Small Group Lessons - Introduction to Ceramics (Handbuilding) Date & Time: Select Wednesdays in October & November, 4-5pm Please ensure your artist is able to attend all 6 dates: October 14, 21, 28 and November 4, 11, 18 before registering. (There is no lesson on October 7 due to Fall Break, and no lesson on November 25 due to Thanksgiving.) Refunds will not be given for missed sessions, and each session will build upon knowledge from previous sessions. Location: You & I Studio Program Room Drop off style small group lessons for ages 6-13. Fill out this form completely to request your artist's spot(s) for Small Group Lessons - Introduction to Ceramics on Wednesdays in October and November from 4-5pm in the Program Room in the You & I Studio. The cost for this group of lessons is $150 per artist, which includes all supplies needed to make 5+ pottery projects. Please ensure your artist is able to attend all 6 dates: October 14, 21, 28 and November 4, 11, 18 before registering. Refunds will not be given for missed sessions, and each session will build upon knowledge from previous sessions. This is a drop-off style small group lesson for ages 6-13. Weeks 1-3 we will make pottery pieces. The pottery pieces will be bisque fired and then the pieces will be glazed during weeks 4-5. After glazing they will be fired again and will be ready to take home at the end of the Week 6 lesson. Week 1 - How to roll a slab, Rolling Slabs, Making Ornaments Week 2 - Building with a slab - votive holder or soap dish (artist's choice) Week 3 - Intro to pinch pots, Creating pinch pots Week 4 - Glazing Pottery Pieces Week 5 - Glazing Pottery Pieces Week 6 - All pottery pieces will be returned to students. Students will complete artist statements/self reflections. Student pottery will be set up for the final 15 minutes of class for families to observe.
